Vic Orth / Profil
From the series Corps à Corps
2020-2024
I began the Corps à corps series in 2020, a mirror in one hand and an analog camera in the other: self-portraits in natural light, developed between my shower and sink. The Corps à corps series was born as an ode to the fluidity of gender expression. It materialized from a need to explore that spectrum. My images highlight bodies—their lines, their uniqueness. Intimate, these moments of shooting first appeared to me as a journey with myself, discovering the abundance and possibilities of gender, of the self.
Gradually, I invited other models—people close to me—into this bubble. Since 2020, Corps à corps has grown to include bodies other than my own; I, in turn, become the mediator, the mirror... Bodies reveal themselves, lighten, undress—either to escape the gaze or to confront it. The sensation of skin seeks to transcend the image, like a caress to oneself.
Thinking of the self outside of structures.
