Marie Bovo (ES, 1967)

Lives and works in Marseille (France)

Marie Bovo graduated in Fine Arts from Aix-Marseille University. Her work has been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions in France and internationally, some of which have resulted in publications. Between 2010 and 2019, she was the subject of solo exhibitions notably at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie (Paris), the galleries Kamel Mennour (Paris) and OSL Contemporary (Oslo, Norway), the Institut Français in Madrid, the FRAC PACA (Marseille), the California Museum of Photography (Riverside, USA), the Fondation Fernet-Branca (Saint-Louis), and the Rencontres de la photographie d’Arles (France).

Her work has also been included in major group exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale in 2011 and the Busan Biennale in South Korea in 2012. More recently, her exhibitions include Nocturnes, presented in 2020 at the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson (Paris), and Les Forêts d’Hypnos in 2025 at Galerie Kamel Mennour (Paris). A solo exhibition of her work is scheduled at Carré d’Art (Nîmes) in 2027.

Her work is held in public collections in France, including the Cnap (Paris), the Maison Européenne de la Photographie (Paris), the Frac PACA (Marseille), and the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, as well as in Belgian collections (Grand-Hornu, Boussu) and American collections (California Museum of Photography, Riverside).
