Mali Arun (FR, 1987)

Lives and works in Paris (France)

A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels de La Cambre (ENSAV, Brussels) in 2010 and the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2013, Mali Arun is an artist, writer, and filmmaker. In 2018, she was awarded the Grand Prix of the Salon de Montrouge by the Palais de Tokyo (Paris). Her work has since been exhibited extensively in France and internationally, including at the Centre Phi (Montreal) in 2019, the Palais de Tokyo (Paris) in 2020, the Institut français du Kansai (Kyoto), the Foam Museum (Amsterdam) in 2022, the Lyon Biennale, and as part of Un Été au Havre in 2025. From 2023 to 2024, she was a resident at the Villa Medici, the French Academy in Rome. In 2026, she takes part in a group exhibition at the Musée Lalique (Wingen-sur-Moder, France) in collaboration with FRAC Alsace.

Her works are held in both private and public collections, including those of the Cnap – Centre national des arts plastiques (Paris), the Musée d’Art Moderne et Contemporain de Strasbourg, the Fondation EDF (Paris), and the macLYON collection.

Alongside her visual arts practice, Mali Arun presents her films at numerous international film festivals, including Clermont-Ferrand, Cabourg, Nyon, Saint Petersburg, Lussas, and Locarno. In 2025, she created the video artwork Tempesta, presented as part of Un Été au Havre. In 2026, she completes It Snows in Bangkok (Il neige à Bangkok), her third feature-length documentary.
