Stephan Vanfleteren / Belgicum

€49.00
Épuisé

Reissue of Stephan Vanfleteren's 'Belgicum'
on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of this masterpiece

“The brilliant book Belgicum is an epitaph for the country that Vanfleteren sees disappear like a sandcastle in the surf.”

— Eric Min in De Morgen

Belgicum
is a photo project about Belgium. It is not an objective reflection of a country but a subjective photo document in black and white. A journey of discovery through a small country in the center of Europe at the turn of the century.

For more than fifteen years, photographer Stephan Vanfleteren has wandered through the territory of 'Belgicum', lost and hunted by emotion and love for his motherland. It became a journey through a country with scars, in search of an elusive identity but with the melancholic soul of an old nation.

This international bestseller, with more than 11,000 copies sold in the past decade, has become a reference in Belgian photography history. On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of this cult book in 2017, it is now being republished.

With a text contribution by David Van Reybrouck.
