Catalogue In the Shadow of Trees

€39.00

Source of inspiration since the 19th century, the tree is a highly pertinent motif and subject in photography. This publication, catalogue of the exhibition “In the Shadow of Trees” reveals 22 photographic projects that make us travel from the Amazonian Forest to the Boreal Forest.

Different and complementary at the same time, the 20 international photographers transmit the importance of trees and forests in our daily life. Revealing the beauty and majestic of the world’s largest living organism, and the story of the people living close to them. This publication is an homage and a call to preserve our nature, more important now than ever in face of the alarming ecological situation.

In the Dictionary of quotations, (...) we can see that the word “tree” is only exceeded in the number of appearances by the word “love”. Which says a great deal about the influence, direct or not, old or recent, but undeniably shared by the whole world (...) » Christian Caujolle (writer, curator, and art critic).

With photo works of: Terje Abusdal, Pablo Albarenga, Mustapha Azeroual, Olaf Otto Becker, Jelle Brandt Corstius & Jeroen Toirkens, Persijn Broersen & Margit Lukács, Edward Burtynsky, Benjamin Deroche, Mitch Epstein, Arguiñe Escandón & Yann Gross, Yutao Gao, Eric Guglielmi, Nicolai Howalt, Kim Jungman, Jaakko Kahilaniemi, Kíra Krász, Pascal Maitre, Beth Moon, Enrique Ramírez and Bruno Roels.

Texts by Christian Caujolle, Lise De Ganck, Delphine Dumont, Astrid Ullens de Schooten and Rodolphe de Spoelberch.
